Discover Pho An

Walking into Pho An feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where the focus is simply good food done right. Located at 209 1st St E, Humble, TX 77338, United States, this diner-style Vietnamese restaurant has quietly built a loyal following among locals who care more about flavor than flash. I first stopped by on a rainy afternoon, the kind of day when a hot bowl of soup feels like a necessity rather than a choice, and the experience stuck with me enough to bring friends back more than once.

The menu leans heavily into traditional Vietnamese comfort food, with pho taking center stage, as it should. The broth is where most pho restaurants either shine or fall flat, and here it’s clear time and technique matter. Long-simmered beef bones, toasted spices like star anise and cinnamon, and careful skimming create a broth that’s clear yet deeply savory. According to culinary research published by institutions like the Culinary Institute of America, extended simmering extracts collagen and amino acids that contribute to both flavor and mouthfeel, and you can taste that effort in every spoonful.

One visit, I ordered the classic pho tai with thinly sliced rare beef, while a friend went for pho ga. Both bowls arrived steaming, garnished with fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeños. The noodles had the right balance of chew and softness, and the meat was fresh, not overworked or dry. It’s a small detail, but consistency like this is often what shows a kitchen knows its process. Reviews from regulars echo the same point: the food tastes the same whether you come in on a quiet weekday or during a busy lunch rush.

Beyond pho, the menu includes familiar staples like banh mi sandwiches, vermicelli bowls, and spring rolls. I’ve seen families share plates of crispy egg rolls while kids sip on Vietnamese iced coffee, which adds to the relaxed, diner-like atmosphere. Portion sizes are generous without being excessive, a balance nutrition researchers often recommend to avoid food waste while still leaving diners satisfied.

Service plays a big role in why people keep coming back. On my last visit, the server noticed I hadn’t touched my chili paste and casually asked if the spice level was okay, offering suggestions without being pushy. That kind of attentiveness builds trust. According to customer service studies from organizations like the National Restaurant Association, small, proactive interactions significantly impact overall dining satisfaction, and this place seems to understand that intuitively.

The location in Humble makes it convenient for locals and those passing through, with easy parking and quick access from nearby roads. It’s not a trendy spot chasing social media fame, and that works in its favor. The dining room is simple, clean, and practical, which aligns with what many diners say they want: a place where the focus stays on the food rather than distractions.

There are limitations worth mentioning. The menu doesn’t change often, and if you’re looking for modern fusion or experimental dishes, this may not be the place. However, that consistency is exactly why many people trust it. The recipes feel refined over time rather than reinvented every season, which aligns with traditional Vietnamese cooking practices passed down through generations.

Overall, the steady stream of positive reviews, the careful preparation methods, and the straightforward hospitality all point to a restaurant that understands its role in the community. It’s the kind of place you recommend not because it’s flashy, but because you know exactly what you’re going to get, and that reliability is often the hardest thing for a restaurant to achieve.

  • This was my first time coming to this restaurant after passing it for so long. I should have stopped in sooner! The gentleman behind the counter was so polite, He offered water while we waited for our order. I ordered the spring rolls, butterfly shrimp for my partner, Pho for me with the rare flank steak and brisket. The broth was piping hot and packaged very well for transport. The vegetables were like they picked them fresh from the garden. The presentation for a to-go order was amazing. The sauces were delicious and complemented the spring rolls and shrimp delicately. I have to say this may be my new go-to for local Pho. The inside is such a surprise. Hand sanitizers in every booth, clean neat table settings. Service is top-notch and the prices are just right for the budget.

  • It was really good! I ordered the chicken pho to go and they included so many things I had to get a bigger bowl because the serving they gave me was so large. So flavorful too!! I usually don’t like pho because the flavor isn’t really there but here it’s always there the broth is flavorful! It included a lemon, vermicelli noodles, jalapeños, broth, chicken, sprouts, mint, etc. as well as sauces. The chicken was soft, and the vegetables were cut finely and perfectly. $14.60 total and I will come again! Honestly though the portion was so large I shared with my significant other. So nice. I also recommend the grilled chicken rolls, they were to die for. I love their peanut sauce I mixed it with my pho and it added a sweet kick.

  • Pho best, I would recommend this place. This restaurant serves pho, like many other restaurants, using the same recipe, the broth is similar to traditional pho soup. If you are a fan of traditional pho, then this is the place for you. If you want authentic pho soup, then you should go to this restaurant, order and enjoy a bowl of pho soup. The establishment is cozy and calm, the staff is friendly, the waiters are always polite, they will come up and ask how you are doing, if you need something from the waiter, you won’t have to wait long, the toilets are clean, I recommend this place, don’t pass by and you won’t regret it

  • Oh, what a delight, a culinary flight, where radiant staff weave a spell so bright! The food, a symphony, flavors that soar, But the star of the show, I simply adore her Vermicelli & grilled beef. Each bite a poem, a dance of pure grace. And the lemon basil—fresh, vibrant, divine, As if plucked from a garden where muses recline. Tina our server was delightful and kind.

  • The place is clean and decorated with flowers. Very pleasant atmosphere. Authentic. I ordered pho bo, it is good 8.5/10, which is good rate. May be it should fillied with more soup liquid for 7-9% more. One interesting thing I noticed is that every table has foam hand sanitizer. Trust me I tested most pho bo restaurants in USA. You can see by post that I often travel and visit different restaurants. Price is ok. Thank you!

  • This place is amazing! I love the Vietnamese egg rolls, the Chicken pho, and the vermicelli with egg rolls! I have never had anything there that I didn't like. They are so friendly and super fast. I like to get to go orders and if I call it in at my house it's ready to go before I walk in the door, which is like 9 mins away.
